VS Code
In VS Code, the simplest option is the official Claude Code extension: the same agent as in the terminal, with a panel, inline diffs and file mentions. It’s configured like the terminal version, with two extra VS Code settings.
-
Install the extension
Open the Extensions view (
Ctrl+Shift+X, orCmd+Shift+Xon Mac), search for Claude Code (publisher: Anthropic) and click Install. VS Code 1.94 or later is required. -
Turn off the login prompt
Open settings (
Ctrl+,orCmd+,), search for “Claude Code login” and tick Disable Login Prompt. Otherwise the extension asks for a claude.ai account on first launch. -
Point the extension at Kloria
Open the command palette (
Ctrl+Shift+PorCmd+Shift+P), run Preferences: Open User Settings (JSON) and add:settings.json (user) {"claudeCode.disableLoginPrompt": true,"claudeCode.environmentVariables": [{ "name": "ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL", "value": "https://api.kloria.dev" },{ "name": "ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN", "value": "sk-…" },{ "name": "ANTHROPIC_DEFAULT_OPUS_MODEL", "value": "claude-opus-5-5" },{ "name": "ANTHROPIC_DEFAULT_SONNET_MODEL", "value": "claude-sonnet-5" },{ "name": "ANTHROPIC_DEFAULT_HAIKU_MODEL", "value": "claude-sonnet-5" }]}If the file already has settings, add these two keys inside the existing braces.
-
Reload and test
Run Developer: Reload Window from the palette, open the Claude Code panel (spark icon at the top right of the editor) and send a message.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- VS Code user settings aren’t versioned with your projects, so the key doesn’t end up in a repository. Don’t put it in a project’s
.vscode/settings.json. - Model selection,
/modeland/statuswork as in the terminal. - Features tied to a claude.ai account (plan usage bars, voice dictation, cloud sessions) aren’t available through a gateway.
- The extension also installs in Cursor and other VS Code-based editors, with the same configuration.
For errors, the Claude Code and Troubleshooting pages apply as is.
